Beacon Conference Papers Due March 14


Dear colleagues,

This is a timely reminder that the deadline for student paper submissions to the Beacon Conference is next Friday, Mar. 14 by 11:59 p.m.

The email after the jump includes the necessary information.

The conference is a wonderful opportunity for your students’ research papers to be acknowledged and recognized by established faculty from other community colleges in the Mid Atlantic region.

Department Award Nominations DUE: Weds. March 23


Tis the season for you to send in exemplary student essays.  Please look at the list below and see if you have some essays that might qualify for any of these awards.

Students will earn up to $100.00 in scholarship money from MC for winning an award, and they will be honored at a campus-wide event in May.

  • The Creative Nonfiction Award
  • The Poetry Award
  • The Short Fiction Award
  • The Strength in Difference Award
  • The Samuel R. Blate Award for Creative Writing
  • The Evelyn Elder Award in American Literature
  • The Charles J. Husfelt Award in Composition
  • The Jacoby-Karr Award in Literature
  • The Monty Pitner Award for Journalism

Please send any essays with cover sheet (in an email attachment from Elizabeth Benton) to Elizabeth Benton. Please submit all essays by Wednesday, March 23.
